You wanna know about 'The Red?'
Back in the day when I was part of Curse I was based near a group of those guys. I'd see 'em around my station every day. I was barely out of the Military School in those days, heh, thought a rifter was the best ship there was. Sure I'd been taught a thing or two by the guys I flown with, they'ed even got me flying vigils instead, I'd just become an alliance tackler.
Never did understand what those guys were up to. It went beyond the language barrier, it was like they thought different. I can't describe it, but the way their battleships moved around the systems - just didn't make sense to me anyway. Didn't back then, and prehaps its becuase I'm getting old, it don't make sense now.
Then one day some good ol' stainer's came in system. I'd faught some of these guys before, and had learnt a whole lot of respect for some of those pilots. I also saw the numbers, and knew the stainers would win. Maybe it was becuase I was young dumb and full of it, I decided I was gonna get involved anyway. Meh, could have said that about anyone in CA.
I could only fly frigs, so I jumped in a vigil and went to help. Now this is possibly what you wanna listen too. The guys that are now flying under the flag of "The Red" didn't need no help. I've never seen anything like it. Mechanical, precise, devestating. Now I'm older, and with a little less pride, I'll also tell you it was darn unnerving. As I said - it goes beyond the language barrier.
Sure the fact that they didn't say a word you could say was part of it. But I'm tellin' you it goes way beyond that. I was on their side - and they were scaring me. God only know's what they do to those they are demolishing. And thats what they do. They don't fight - they demolish you. Same as some of those guys really good at chess, they don't just checkmate you, they force you into to checkmate.
I hear Thanit say about NAP's and all that, and it makes it sound like they are canny politicians. I wouldn't say that, I say its more the force of their weapons. Krapz gives some good advice about them as well. You ain't in some dog fighter inty with these guys - you playing chess, and remember that if you ever look down the wrong end of one of their weapons.
Just remember there's no language barrier when a battleship jock activates his weapons. Thats 'The Reds' language:
